PUDUCHERRY STUDENT’S MINISTRY:

In the year 2013, Chennai-Bangalore diocese of Mar Thoma church started student’s ministry in Pondicherry area. Pondicherry is a place known for its natural beauty and vast opportunities for higher education.

Praising God that the Pondicherry students Ministry has completed 10 years in the spiritual growth of students from the Mar Thoma community. Students from Mar Thoma community around the world are coming to Pondicherry for higher education in Engineering, Medical and other Degree courses. For catering the spiritual needs of these students, especially, sacramental needs and counselling, Students Ministry plays a beneficial role in their academic life. Majority of students are from Puducherry University, Pondicherry institute of Medical Science (PIMS), Rajeev Gandhi Medical college, JIPMER, Manakullam Vinayaka Medical College and Acharya College of Engineering. Students from different colleges come together to partake in the Holy Communion service, on Second Sunday of each month at PIMS hospital chapel and fourth Sunday at St. Thomas church Pondicherry. About 14 to 20 Students are attending for the Holy Qurbana every month.

Mr. Abel Mathew Kaithavana and Miss. Ann Mary Roy served as the communication Secretaries to arrange Holy Communion services. Along with the students, members of Pondicherry Mar Thoma Church and other faculty members, participate and support the ministry. The support from the PIMS hospital in the form of providing a place for worship for the Mar Thoma students is so valuable.  Prayerful support is greatly needed to find solace in God. Rev. Rajan Koshy served as Students Chaplain.
