CHENNAI REGION:
The Ministry among students in Chennai is coordinated by the Youth Chaplain who is stationed in the campus of Hindustan Group of Institutions.
Hindustan Christian Fellowship (HCF)
HCF is a fellowship of the students of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) under the Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI). The Students’ Chaplain stationed at HITS campus, Padur, visits different units under the Hindustan group, conducts prayer fellowships and gives spiritual leadership for various activities. At the HITS campus, for the spiritual nourishment of staffs and students, an everyday morning prayer is conducted from 8:10 to 8:25 AM, in which staff members deliver fruitful messages. Also, on every Monday morning the Chaplain shares a spiritual message at the Open-Air-Theatre of the HITS campus for the whole community. HCF meetings are conducted in the campus, in which students and staff members actively participate. Holy Communion is celebrated on Sundays every month from 9:00 AM onwards in the K S Moorthy hall.
KCG Christian Fellowship
The fellowship meeting of the students of KCG College of Engineering, Karapakam, is held regularly on every Wednesday at 12:30 PM. The students actively participate in the meetings and spend time in Singing, Prayer, conducting Bible Quiz etc. The Student Chaplain shares spiritual messages for them. On 5th April 2023, during the Lent, a passion recital was conducted, in which the students and staff delivered mellifluous renditions. An Annual Retreat named ARISE’23 was conducted on 22ndApril in the college campus. Ms. Praiselin Stephen, a blessed gospel singer gave her performance. Our sincere gratitude to Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Mr. Ashok Verghese, Dr. Annie Jacob and Dr. Susan Verghese for their immense support and encouragement.
E-Ministry, Tambaram
The students’ ministry at Tambaram is mainly centered around Madras Christian College (MCC) and many other different colleges and universities located in the region. E-ministry fellowship remained extremely vibrant throughout the year with a wide variety of numerous activities. Monthly meetings are held at Emmanuel MTC, Tambaram. Besides the regular meetings, there were preparatory prayer meeting, Fresher’s Day meeting, Cottage Prayer, Chain Prayer, Christmas Night, Farewell meeting etc.
On 25th September a mega event named Onapulari was conducted in the MCC campus which was honored by two distinguished guests, Ms. Gayathri Rajeev (Playback Singer) and Mr. Rajeev (Mentalist). During the lent, short daily devotions were shared by the students and was circulated via WhatsApp. Skip A Meal is another remarkable social activity during the lent, led by the students, in which they skip one meal of a day and distribute the food to the needy in the streets. For supporting the mission work of the Mar Thoma Church e-ministry conducted a sale programme on 19th March 2023 in the premises of Immanuel MTC, Tambaram.
Throughout the year, many online competitions were conducted to encourage the students to bring out and nurture their talents. The annual magazine of E-Ministry entitled as METANOIA was published and released. The students contributed their articles, stories, poems, paintings, etc. in it. Thanks to Immanuel MTC, Tambaram and the vicar, Rev. Sam Mathew for the great support and facilities that they provide for the functioning of e-ministry. Rev.
