NANDYAL MISSION:
The Nandyal Mar Thoma Mission was established in the year 2001 under the auspices of The Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association (MTEA). The activities of the Mission were initiated concentrating the Nallagatla village of Andhra Pradesh, which presently has the largest Mar Thoma congregation in the area. Presently the works of Nandyal Mission have grown to reach 20 villages with 9 Churches and 4 House Churches, 335 families, 780 believers and many seekers. Amidst the numerous social, economic and natural challenges God’s mission continues. Mission activities are progressing under the leadership of 7 Evangelists and one Missionary Achen. Holy Communion in Telugu language is celebrated in the 9 churches at least once a month and ordinary services on every other Sundays. Fasting prayers are conducted every Fridays along with other prayers at the churches and houses in villages. Every Sunday after the worship, Sunday schools are held under the leadership of evangelists and youngsters in the village. Children are taught songs, stories, Bible verses and so on. Free medical camps are conducted with help of Kuttapuzha Jerusalem MTC in the mission campus.
Parish day Revival meetings and Conventions were held in different churches of Nandyal Mission. “Suvartha Bahiranga Koodika” (Gospel Meetings) are held in villages without churches, helping new believers to Grow in Christ. These open-air road-side meetings allow more and more seekers and non-believers to come close to the fellowship of the church. Once in every year an “Ujjaiva Koottam” is organized in every church to revitalize the spiritual zeal in the believers. These meetings are also supplemented with other group works and house visits to keep the faithful growing in the fellowship of the church. Workers meeting were conducted on the first week of every month. Singing, Bible reading, intercessory prayer, Bible study and meditation on the gospels are the activities. The programme for each month will also be planned in these meetings.
