DIOCESAN MAR THOMA YUVAJANA SAKHYAM Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants. And our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace. The Chennai-Bangalore Diocese Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam has the unique distinction of being the first Diocese outside Kerala. As we review our work for the year gone by, let us ponder a moment and introspect whether we have been true to our calling- “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.’’ (1Peter 2:9). The Mar Thoma Church has understood the need for the youths in this era and has conducted many events, camp conferences which help the youth to build up their lives and face challenges. Mar Thoma Yuvujana Sakhyam faced this generation has proactively involved in building faith and equipping the present generation witness through it four-fold motto. By his grace there is much we have accomplished during the year. To God be the glory, great things he has done!

Chennai - Bangalore Diocese Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam has stepped into a new level of its journey from its previous years. The participation of the youths for all events were a big plus for the year 2016-2017.This has made Chennai Bangalore Diocese Yuvajana Sakhyam as one of the active Youth Fellowship outside Kerala. As youths, we were able to observe our four-fold motto of Worship, Witness, Study and Service through the Diocese and Kendram Youth activities.

The following were the activities in Diocese and Kendram level: General Body Meeting:

The General Body meeting for the year 2016-2017 was held on 28.05.2016 at the Quiet Corner, Masnagudi (Ooty) with the presence of Rt Rev Dr Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa, Diocesan Bishop. During the Daniel Verghese George, Secretary presented the report and the accounts for the 2015-2016. The reports and the accounts for the 2015-2016 were passed. During the meeting, the General Body elected Rev Joseph John as the vice president of The Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam Chennai Bangalore Diocese for the remaining period of term of 2016-2017 Committee meetings: From time to time the committee members assembled together for the Diocese committee meeting. This year we had three committee meetings • Metropolitan Dr Joseph Mar Thoma Centre for Holistic Development, Anna Nagar - 10th September 2016 • Metropolitan Dr Joseph Mar Thoma Centre for Holistic Development, Anna Nagar - 21st October 2016 The committee meetings helped the committee members to plan well for all events. In addition to that committee members gathered for informal outings and brainstorming sessions

Diocesan Kalamela 2015-16: The Diocesan Kalamela for the year 2016-2017 was held at The Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church Anna Nagar and Metropolitan Dr Joseph Mar Thoma Centre for Holistic Development, Anna Nagar, on 18th November and was hosted by Chennai centre Nearly 100 youths from Chennai Centre, Bangalore Centre and Coimbatore Centre participated in the event. The Overall trophy was bagged The Chennai Centre Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam, and The Coimbatore Centre Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam bagged the runners up trophy. Master Johann Santhosh MammenSt Paul’s MTC Adyar, Chennai for Group I and Mr. Mervin Thomas from Jerusalem MTC Anna Nagar, Chennai for Group II bagged the Kalaprathibha Trophy. Ms. Neeharika Sara Sennie of St Paul’s MTC Adyar, Chennai for Group I and Ms Manna Parasad of The Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Primrose Road, Bangalore for Group II bagged the Kalathilakam trophy. Special thanks to Dr Alka Mathew who served as the convenor and also a special thanks to Mr Sujith M Philip and Mrs Juby Elsa Jacob who served as the co-convenor for the kalamela 2016

Kendram Kalamela: As usual the Kendram kalamela was conducted at Mar Thoma Youth Centre, Adoor. The Kendram Kalamela happened between 13th and 14th of January 2017.The 1st and 2nd placeWinners of the Diocesan Kalamela were qualified forKendram. This time there was a huge participation from Chennai Bangalore Diocese. About 45 youths representedChennai Bangalore Diocese in the kalamela. Special thanks to all Achens and Shakha secretaries who encouraged their youths to participate in the Kendram Kalamela. Special thanks to Deepthi Sara Anil - Chennai, Manna Prasad - Bangalore, who led the crowd from their respective centres.

Tamil Youth Meeting: A meeting for the Tamil speaking youths was conducted at Kuruvakulam Mar Thoma Centre on 18th of March. Rev Sateesh K S served as the convener of the meeting attended by 70 youths Evg. John Kutty and Evg Viju Raju led the main sessions. Rev Joseph John represented the office bearers in the meeting.
