Suvishesha Sevika Sangam

Chennai-Bangalore Diocesan Suvishesha Sevika Sangham consists of Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Secunderabad - Hyderabad, Ankola, Mundgod and Andamans Centres and Abu Dhabi / Kuwait parish. Diocesan Bishop and President Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa oversee and guide all the activities of the Sevika Sangham. Sangham continues to have active programmes at the parish and centre levels, and has organized regional meetings in different centres.

In the current year, Bangalore centre hosted the Diocesan Sevika Sangham Triennial Conference which was held at Mar Thoma Centre, Beerasandra during January 27-29, 2017. The theme of the Conference was “Glory & challenges of Motherhood” and the conference was hosted by Bangalore centre. Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa inaugurated the conference and led the conference on all three days. The Conference was attended by more than 200 delegates. Sr. C. Sobha CSN, Fr. Davis Chiramel and Mrs. Reena John were the invited speakers of the conference. Sr. Sobha was the main speaker at the conference. Her inspiring and heart touching messages addressed various aspects of the theme. Mrs. Reena John spoke about the skills required by a mother and Fr. Davis Chiramel gave a very motivating speech with lots of humorous real life examples encouraging the delegates to live their life meaningfully for God. Rev. George Cherian and Rev. Feno M. Thomas lead the Bible study sessions. Documentary on “Home of Hope” was presented and Auto Raja the man behind “Home of Hope” gave his testimony and talked about his mission of rebuilding the lives of the destitute people of the streets. Delegates could also attend the Holy Baptism of a group of believers and give them a spiritual support at Devanahalli Mission field. The conference was a memorable and blessed experience for all who attended. 

 

Diocesan Sevika Sangham held annual competitions in Singing, Bible reading, Bible Quiz and Elocution at Bangalore in March 2017, members from Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Secunderabad-Hyderabad centres participated in the competition. The first and second prizes winners are to participate at the Kendra Kalamalsaram. The Diocesan Sevika Sangham contributed for the SVS food stall at Maramon convention. The Sevika Sangham is involved in mission related activities of the Diocese. This year also diocesan Sevika Sangham has donated more than 2 lakhs to support the hostels, Women empowerment program and Social outreach programs of the diocese. Diocesan Sevika Sangham visited the Sanghareddy mission field in Andra Pradesh in November 2016 and contributed a small amount to the mission activities.

 

Rev. Charley Jones (Vicar, St. Stephen’s MTC, Bangalore) and Mrs. Suja Joseph (Jerusalem MTC, Hebbal) served as the Clergy and Lady Vice Presidents respectively. Dr. Mariamma Philip (St. Stephen’s MTC, Bangalore) served as the Secretary and Mrs. Biny Susan Varghese (MTSC, Primrose Road) served as the Treasurer. We are grateful for the guidance of our Diocesan President Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa. Praying for His abundant mercies so that we could do meaningful ministry for the betterment of His kingdom in the coming years.
